Its the holidays, there are going to be so many parties and get togethers, and we want to look fab! Lets be real, we are going to be pulling all nighters, partying like the animals that we are, and our makeup HAS to last!! Why? Because there is always someone with that super cool digital camera that has a million megapixels on it, and poor you will not know that your makeup has faded and got all grungy looking until you find out on Facebook the very next day. sigh... It could happen ladies and gentlemen...it could happen. So, to save ourselves from that dreadful thought, here are some tips for each feature of the face on how to have long lasting holiday makeup!!
Eyes: The holidays are a great time to play up the eyes and be a bit more daring than we usually are! We can do lots of smokey browns, gold tones, cranberry colors, and not to mention GLiTTER!! There are so many fun ways to do your makeup for the holidays no matter what age you are. I would recommend that if you are planning on doing a fun and more colorful shadow, do not put on your foundation before. This way you can wipe off any excess fall out. We all make mistakes...if we dont make them, then we make nothing. I would recommend that you start off the eye with a great base. Some popular bases are Urban Decay Primer Potion, M-A-C Paint Pots, or Too Faced Shadow Insurance. If you dont have this at hand, just use a tiny bit of foundation on a brush on your lid and this should work well too.
Another great tip is to use waterproof mascaras and eyeliners so there will be less smudging! Setting your liner with an eyeshadow also helps your makeup to not smear as well. Here are some amazing waterproof mascara and eyeliners.
Face: I know you all have heard it LOTS of times, but who cares, hear it again for the sake of beauty!! LESS IS MORE! Too much foundation looks so bad in person and in pictures. A primer is a great investment for your foundation to last long, apply smoother, and look flawless throughout the night. A great winter tip is to mix your foundation and concealer with a bit of your moisturizer. This will allow your face to stay hydrated and to lessen the opacity of the foundation. Creme blushes are more natural looking during the winter as it gives the cheeks a natural 'from within' flush of color. High-ligthers for the cheek bones are also very fancy for the winter as it gives that warm holiday glow to your skin. A great highlighter is Moon Beam by Benefit. Apply powder sparingly mainly to your T-Zone and places where you get oily fast. Spritz ur face with FixPlus from M-A-C or MUFE Mist & Fix to set.
Lips: There is nothing more that craves hydration during the winter time more than your lips. Boy do they need extra care and attention during the cold winter days. Did you know that unlike the rest of your skin, your lips does not shed dead skin on its own? This is why our lips feel so dry and somtimes look so dull. A great home made way to exfoliate your lips is with some simple sugar (NOT SALT). Lightly damp your lips with water and gently rub some sugar granules over your lips in small circular motions. Rinse after and apply a spf protecting lip balm. When puting on makeup for the holidays, this will help your lipstick to apply so much smoother and look great on your lips. Make sure and use a lip liner for extra lasting effects. If you use lipgloss a lot, do not expect your lips to last long. Thats where your cute clutch comes in handy. Toss in a lipstick and lipgloss for touch ups and you are done you hot thing you!!
I hope that you guys can use some of these tips for your winter holiday make up. I would love to see some of the makeup looks you come up with. Please post or email me!! s.chatoor85@gmail.com
